The spread of Indo-European culture beyond the Steppes of Central Asia began around 3000 BC and marked a shift from the coexistence of feminine and masculine centered religions to a predominantely masculine centered religion based on warfare, innovation, and individualism. Its interesting to learn about early European cultures that had a more egalitarian social structure since Europe is often associated with conquering and colonization. Remants of cultures with a more feminine worldview are still found today in the practices of so called “Indigenous” cultures. The masculine centered religion of Indo European still dominates modern day culture. To explore these ideas further you can check out the work of Marija Gimbutas.
